Mikie B. Watts

Mikie B. Watts, formerly of Rose Hill, NC, departed her earthly home on Friday night at First Health Hospice and Palliative Care in West Bend, NC after a period of declining health. She was born on August 1, 1936 in Durham County, North Carolina to the late John Forrest Blanton and Lucy Atkinson Blanton.

Her career involved her work as a secretary in the office of a tax attorney and later involvement with the "Meals on Wheels" program. She was an excellent seamstress, did a lot of knitting and crocheting, enjoyed working in the garden, and spent a great deal of time in reading her bible. There was in instinct in her to stay busy so she became a great fan of bingo in her later life when living in long term care facilities. She loved her God and attended the Rose Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and later the Willard Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Surviving are her children--Ronald Jones of Elizabethtown and Debra Ann Jones of Pinehurst; grandchildren--Joshua Jones of Dallas, TX and Grayson Jones of Boone, NC; sister--Marcia Buckner of Rose Hill and brother--Allen Blanton and wife Edie of Layafette, LA.

A service to honor her life is planned for Monday, October 22, 2018 at 3:00 pm in the 401 West Main Street chapel of Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services in Wallace, NC. Officiating will be Reverend Jack Melvin. There will be a visitation prior to the service at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Devotional Gardens in Warsaw after the service. The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to First Health Hospice and Palliative Care--251 Campground Road--West End, North Carolina 28376.
