Leland Earl Glenn Cavenaugh



Leland Earl Glenn Cavenaugh, 99, of Wallace, North Carolina passed from this earthly life to his eternal life on Friday, June 15, 2018 while at home. He was born on March 26, 1919 to the late Offie A. and Brunnie Lee Batts Cavenaugh of Duplin County and was married for sixty-three to the late Mattie Register Cavenaugh. Also preceding him in death were brothers Ottis Cavenaugh and Thomas Cavenaugh.

Surviving to cherish his memory are five children; son—Glenwood Cavenaugh and his wife Jane of Wallace, daughter—Brunnie Price and her husband George “Buster” Price of Wallace, daughter—Nina Williams and her husband James of Rose Hill, daughter Lucinda Cavenaugh and her husband Floyd of Willard, son—Ottis Cavenaugh and his wife Amberley of Wallace; grandchildren—Deborah Carmelo of Rose Hill, Ellie Floyd and husband Joey of Columbia, SC, Justin Price and wife Amy of Wallace, Braxton Price of Wallace, Matthew Cavenaugh and wife Britia of Willard, Rebekah Jackson and husband D. J. of Willard, Macie Watson and husband Justin of Wallace, Ethan Cavenaugh of Fayetteville, Caleb Cavenaugh of Wallace; step grandchildren Jim Williams and wife Lehana of Wallace, Kevin Williams and wife Debbie of Rose Hill, John Williams and wife Heather of Wallace; 18 great grandchildren; and special caregiver Eleanor Humphrey of Beulaville.

Mr. Cavenaugh spent all his life in Duplin County except for four years spent in the service of his country in the United States Army. He was a farmer and built his own house and later started building houses for others. His true sense of responsibility is shown in his ability to raise five children and send them through school on a single income. Many years were spent serving in his home church, North East Pentecostal FWB Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was also a charter member of the Northeast Ruritan Club.

A service to commemorate his life will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at North East Pentecostal FWB Church in Wallace, NC with a visitation before the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Jacob Cavenaugh Cemetery in Wallace with military honors.
