James Walter Harrell



James Walter "Jim" Harrell, 58, died on Monday evening, May 14, 2018 at his home in Rose Hill, NC after a period of declining health. He was born in Wilson County on September 24, 1959 to the late James Alton and Betty Carol Barbee Harrell. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a son, Derrick Harrell.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife--Donna Bell Harrell of the home; children--special son "Sam" of the home, Bobbie Jean Harrell Nichols of Rose Hill, J. B. Barnette of Delway, James Ryan Harrell and wife Pamela of Rose Hill, William Barnette and wife Nichole of Magnolia, and Kayla Barnette of Wallace; sister--Deborah Harrell of Troy, Michigan; grandchildren--Shane, Violet "Katie", James "Little Jimmy"; special canine "Harley"; and many other children he collected over the years.

Mr. Harrell joined the United States Navy early in life and spent almost thirteen years serving his country. After his discharge he was a heavy equipment mechanic for several local companies and also worked as a security person at River Landing in Wallace. There was a passion in him for antique automobiles, especially the 1956 Ford. He enjoyed fishing, grilling, deep frying turkeys, and the "Eagles". He had a great love for family and cherished his granddaughter, "Katie".

A visitation with family will be held at Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 6:00 til 8:00 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Padgett Funeral chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Gary Bell. Interment will be in Cavenaugh Cemetery in Wallace. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral costs.
