Roy Lane Marshburn



Roy Lane Marshburn of the Pin Hook community of Wallace, North Carolina left his earthly home on the evening of May 7, 2018 while at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was born in Jones County, NC, on April 4, 1928 to the late John D. and Effie Emma Marshburn. For more than 72 years he was married to Edith Hollingsworth Marshburn who passed in 2016. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Annabelle Thomas.

Survivors include identical twin sons--Maurice Dayne Marshburn and Horace Wayne Marshburn and wife Teresa, all of Wallace; four grandchildren--Melissa Marshburn Bunker and husband Stephen of Huntersville, NC. Nicholas Rives Marshburn and wife Summer of Southern Pines, NC, Mark Christopher Marshburn and wife Stacy of Wallace, NC, Michael Gray Marshburn and wife Melissa of Henderson, NC; thirteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Mr. Marshburn was driven by his love for God and family. His wife used to say more than anything, he enjoyed time with his boys. Most of his work life was spent as a carpenter in the commercial construction industry; he also enjoyed fixing things around the house. Before his health faded, he loved to cook breakfast, work in the vegetable garden and the occasional fishing trip.

A service to commemorate the life of Mr. Marshburn will be held at The Church at Pin Hook on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. beginning with a visitation and lunch at 12:30 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. George Price. Interment will be at the Hollingsworth Family Cemetery on Highway 50 near Pin Hook.
