Jimmy Wesley Rivenbark, Sr. passed from his earthly home in Burgaw, North Carolina to his heavenly home on December 25, 2017. He was born on October 29, 1939 to the late Preston Earl Rivenbark, Sr. and Mae Etta Cockman Rivenbark. He was also predeceased by his stepmother Lou Ola Page Rivenbark; brothers- Wayland Rivenbark, Lynwood Rivenbark, Francis Rivenbark, Joseph Rivenbark, Preston "P.E." Rivenbark; sister- Elizabeth Taylor.
Surviving are his wife Penelope "Penny" Rivenbark; children-Jimmy Wesley Rivenbark, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Chesterfield, S.C., Roberta Lynn Lee and her husband Christopher of Rocky Point, Judy Ann Nava of Burgaw, Shirley Dianne Dixon and her husband William of Rose Hill; grandchildren-Meshelle Fussell of Micro, Zachary Rivenbark of Selma, Gabriella Nava of Mexico, Joshua Lee and his wife Erin of Rocky Point, Alicia Johnson and her husband Reginald of Willard, Danny Gurganus of Fuquay Varina, Tyler Rivenbark of Wilmington; great grandchildren-Sonia, Edwin, Darey, Jesus, Josiah, Kendra, Evelyn and Ella; brothers-Bobby Rivenbark, Donald Rivenbark, and Rupert Rivenbark; sisters-Nelva Albury, Charlotte Lanier, and Connie Pittman.
Jimmy grew up in Sampson County and was one of thirteen children. His mother died when he was fifteen days old and his stepmother, Lou Ola Page Rivenbark was very instrumental in his upbringing. Jimmy retired as a farm supervisor with the prison system in Pender County where he worked for a great number of years. He loved farming and was an avid deer hunter. Most of all he loved his wife of fifty eight years and his dear family.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the First Assembly of God in Wallace, North Carolina. Interment will be in the Riverview Memorial Cemetery in Watha after the service. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his memory to the Wallace First Assembly of God, 212 West Main Street, Wallace, N.C. 28466. Jimmy was a good and Godly man. I will miss our .Bible studies when he and Penny lived on Black River Lane. We are sorry we couldn't attend the funeral but we are out of town. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. We love them very much. Thank you God for welcoming Jimmy home.

Penny, so sorry to hear about Mr. Jimmy....especially on Christmas Day, but what better way to celebrate Christmas than with Jesus!! Every time we go down to Black River, you and he are in my thoughts of what super nice people you both are!! Will keep you in our prayers!
