Mary Elizabeth Fussell Kirby left her earthly home on Monday morning October 30, 2017, surrounded by her family in River Landing, Wallace, North Carolina after a period of illness. She was born in Duplin County to the late Daniel Jerome Fussell, Sr. and Elizabeth Baker Fussell on July 27, 1957. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Daniel Lyle Latha.
Ms. Kirby is survived by her brothers, Dan Fussell, Jr. and his wife, Jo Ellen and David Fussell and his wife, Ann; nephews, David Fussell Jr. (Angie), Patrick Fussell, Jonathan Fussell (Leah), D. J. Fussell (Megan); niece, Leslie Rodriguez; many great nephews and great nieces; and Noel, a very devoted pet and friend.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fussell Family Cemetery in Rose Hill, N.C.
Ms. Kirby felt that all animals were wonderful and wanted many of them around her at all times. At different times, she kept ducks, rabbits, and dogs. She also thought that butterflies were priceless. During her life, family was a tremendous recipient of her endless love.
Family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, contibutions be considered to the Rose Hill United Methodist Church or a charity of one’s choice in memory of Ms. Kirby.
