Mrs. Joyce Rae Hall Forbes of Wilmington, NC left her earthly home on January 26, 2018 while a resident of Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC. She was born in Harrells, NC on December 17, 1931 to the late Fred Fitzhugh Hall and Margaret Elizabeth Wells Hall. She was also predeceased by her husband Edward Bray Forbes, sister Mary Alice Singletary, son-in law Douglas Jenne, and her special friend Jack Neilson, Jr.
Surviving are her daughter Martina Jenne of Burlington, NC; sister Peggy Stallings of Wallace, NC; nephew Darwin Stallings and his wife Bethany of Charlotte, NC; niece Beth Moore and her husband Greg of Teachey, NC; niece Della Wirtz and her husband Ed of Los Angeles, CA; nephew Warren Singletary and his wife Rhonda of Suwanee, GA; niece Leah Singletary of Holly Ridge, NC; and thirteen grand nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Forbes worked in mortgage banking for more than thirty years and retired from Wells Fargo. There was an enormous place in her heart for Winter Park Baptist Church as evidenced by the dedication and loyalty to her Sunday School class and her Bible Study group in the church there. She was a Worthy Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star, Cape Fear Chapter Number 346. Traveling has always been one of the things she enjoyed in life whether moving as a military wife in early life or going on cruises in later life. There was always time, though, for ball-room dancing and scrap booking. Family gatherings has always been a top priority for Mrs. Forbes. Whether at family gatherings or in other groups, she was always the person to "light up the room" when she arrived.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Winter Park Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC at 10:00 a.m. with funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery, Wallace at 2:30 p.m. Casketbearers will be Greg Moore, Matt Moore, Luke Walls, Robert Graves, Joseph Hall, and Buddy Boone. Celebrating the life of Joyce Rae Hall Forbes
Thank you for signing Joyce Rae Hall Forbes's Guestbook
I enjoyed getting to know Joyce and Jack when they were able to go on the trips with First Baptist Church Wallace. She was always a bright ray of sunshine and I enjoyed the trips much more by both of them being there. My thoughts and prayers go out for the family.

My thoughts and prayers for the family. Ms. Joyce was always a beautiful lady. Enjoyed running into to her on occasion at the florist.

I did not know Joyce until I worked with her at Wachovia Corporate Mortgage in Wilmington. She was a real jewel.
