Lee Blake Massey passed from this life on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 while a patient of UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, N.C.
He was born in Salt Lake City,Utah on July 8, 1958 to the late John Jake Massey and Nedra Rose Bitton Massey. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by sisters; Jody Mears and Jacqueline Lindberg; and nephew--Chad Mears. Surviving Mr. Massey is his wife of thirty one years, Aida Alvarez Massey; son--Tyler Isidro Massey of Teachey; daughter--Natalie Rose Massey of Teachey; grandson--Avery Massey of Teachey; brother--Corey Massey and his wife Judy of Las Vegas, NV; sister--Valerie Horman Massey and her husband Doug of Layton, Utah; brother Evan Massey of the Phillipines; brother Doran Massey and his wife Miho of New Jersey; Julie Massey Cushing and her husband Thomas of Layton, Utah; and a very special friend of the family--Edell Blakney of Rose Hill.
He took much pride in his job working as a food inspector with the United States Department of Agriculture for many years. During early life, fishing was one of his favorite things to do in his spare time. As time passed, interests broadened for Mr. Massey especially in history, computer games, and reading. His pride and joy in life was his grandson, Avery. Time spent with Avery was always precious to him.
A service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Padgett Funeral and Cremation Services in Wallace. A visitation will precede the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Duplin Memorial Gardens in Teachey following the service.
