Obituary

Floyd Duncan Cavenaugh, age 84 of the North East Community, Wallace left his earthly existence on Sunday morning, August 6, 2017 and is now in his heavenly home. He was born on August 28, 1932 to Robert Russell Cavenaugh and Alberta English Cavenaugh.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years Carol Cavenaugh, his three sons, Floyd D. Cavenaugh II and his wife Cindy of Willard, NC, Russell C. Cavenaugh and his wife Cynthia of Willard, NC, and Kenneth R. Cavenaugh and his wife Gwen of Wallace, NC, grandchildren Matthew Cavenaugh and his wife Britia of Willard, NC, Rebekah Jackson and her husband D. J. of Willard, NC, Jessica Speight and her husband Seth of Willard, NC, Wesley Cavenaugh of Willard, NC, Chandler Cavenaugh of Wallace, NC, Conner Cavenaugh of Wallace, NC, great grandchildren Olivia Cavenaugh, Bella Cavenaugh, Lane Jackson, and Brooklyn Speight
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 3:00 pm at North East Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 129 Hanchey Road, Wallace, N.C. conducted by Rev. Billy Toler and Rev. Buster Price. A visitation will be held at the church at 1:30 pm and interment will be in Cavenaugh Cemetery after the service.
Mr. Cavenaugh was a person of many talents who loves his family dearly. During his vast career, he served in the United States Army in Korea where he was awarded four bronze stars. He then worked in textiles, operated a service station, operated a farming operation, and was an excellent welder and mechanic. He was a member of the North East Volunteer Fire Department, a charter member of the North East Ruritan Club, attended North East Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, and was a lifetime member of the NRA.
